When you get to Banff, I would highly recommend that you go for easy but beautiful hikes at Johnston Canyon and Grassi Lakes near Canmore
- if you have kids, https://enchantedforestbc.com/ would be a great place to spend two-three hrs at
- https://www.3valley.com/heritage_resort/ghost_town.htm - 3 valley gap ghost town near Revelstoke is great heritage side to learn about Canadian history
- Lake Louise/Lake Moraine is another place I suggest that you visit, but it has been very crowded lately. You will likely need to drop your car at a designated parking lot on highway and take a free shuttle to Lake Louise.
- there's a lot of hot springs on the way such as Radium or Ainsworth that are worth checking out. Ainsworth is a bit of a detour but it has a natural cave to go into.
